Parc André Citroën

2 Rue Cauchy, 75015 Paris · 14 hectares

Overview

Parc André Citroën is Paris's most self-consciously modern park — a bold, geometric landscape of 14 hectares that replaced the historic Citroën automobile factory on the banks of the Seine in 1992. Designed by landscape architects Gilles Clément and Alain Provost together with architects Patrick Berger and Jean-Paul Viguier, it is divided into two distinct halves: the southern half contains six remarkable 'serial gardens', each dedicated to a metal, a sensory experience, and a colour; the northern half is dominated by a vast rectangular lawn flanked by two enormous glass greenhouses. The park is also famous as the base of the Ballon de Paris, the world's largest tethered helium balloon, which carries visitors 150 metres into the sky for panoramic views.
